About the firm

Given the rapid pace of change in the law, regulations, and procedures, the subject matter of Immigration Law is more difficult to master than other areas of law and as such, it deserves full and exclusive dedication.

At BAUER IMMIGRATION LAW FIRM, we chose to practice ONLY Immigration Law in order to provide our clients with the most current legal advice and guidance.

Obtaining visas – whether temporary or permanent (green card) - is often stressful and emotional for applicants because the visa process is not well understood, is largely out of the applicant’s control, and is often lengthier than expected. Using an experienced immigration attorney can make a fundamental difference in the visa application process and be essential for foreign nationals as US Citizenship and Immigration Services and American consulates decide their visa matters.

At Bauer Immigration Law Firm, not only we focus on local clients in southeastern Minnesota but we also serve clients throughout the United States and in US Consular posts around the word.

About the attorney:

Catherine A. Bauer (catherine@rochesterimmigration.com), Principal attorney.

William Mitchell College of Law, MN (Juris Doctor);
Ellis College of New-York Institute of Technology (NYIT), NY (B.A.); University of Nancy, France (B.S. Physical Therapy).

Ms. Bauer is licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Minnesota.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Bauer had extensive professional experience for 15 years as a Physical Therapist in France. She relocated to the United States in 1997 and experienced firsthand the immigration process with her husband and three children and as a result she fully understands the pressure imposed by the strenuous demands of the US immigration system.

For several years, Ms. Bauer has been involved with pro-bono projects supported by the Mayo Clinic and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS) promoting access to Citizenship for eligible immigrants. During law school, she gained experience working in an Immigration Clinic representing clients undergoing deportation proceedings in Immigration Court.

Ms. Bauer received the Law School Public Service Program Award from the Minnesota Justice Foundation in 2008 and she regularly volunteers with the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, Legal Aid of Olmsted County and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services. For the past three years, she has been an active volunteer in "Citizenship Day" sponsored by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

Ms. Bauer is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Olmsted County Bar Association. She also serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of IMAA (Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association). She speaks French fluently.

Since becoming an attorney and opening Bauer Immigration Law Firm in 2009, Ms. Bauer has actively practiced Immigration and Citizenship Law and represented clients all over the world on immigration matters. She dedicates her entire practice to Immigration and Citizenship Law.
